Earl J. "Whitey" Klaas

Earl J. "Whitey" Klaas, age 84, of Lancaster, died Sunday, March 9, 2008 at Grant Regional Health Center in Lancaster. He was born June 15, 1923 in Louisburg, WI, the son of Aloys and Elizabeth (Lange) Klaas. Earl graduated from Livingston High School in 1941. During WWII, he served as a corporal in the U.S. Army from 1943 - 1946 and was stationed in the Philippines. On May 23, 1949, he married Marjorie M. Henry in Lancaster. After their marriage, they farmed and together they raised their daughter. Earl was a member of St. Clement Catholic Church in Lancaster, the Knights of Columbus Council #2820, and the William Pollock VFW Post #2344. He enjoyed fishing and, in his younger days, loved to go dancing with his wife, Marge.

He is survived by his daughter, Sue (Charles) Kastner, Platteville; a grandson, Jeremy (friend Missy) Kastner, Potosi; a granddaughter, Heather (friend Jerry) Kastner, Madison; two great-granddaughters: Montana Kastner and Kienna Roberts; brother-in-law, Glenn Henry, Waukesha; sisters-in-law: Pearl (Raymond) Skaife, Lancaster; Catherine Klaas, Fennimore; and Lorraine Klaas, Lancaster; and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Marjorie, on September 17, 2007; his parents; four brothers: Orlin, Harold, Aelred, and Floyd Klaas; and a sister, Marrion Bowers.

Funeral services were held on Thursday, March 13, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Clement Catholic Church in Lancaster with Father William Seipp officiating. Burial with military honors was in St. Clement Cemetery, South Lancaster Township. Visitation was held on Thursday, March 13, 2008 from 9:00 a.m. until the time of services at the church.

Jane C. Klaas

Jane Catherine Klaas, 59, Lancaster, died on Thursday, March 3, 2011 at the HospiceCare Inc. in Madison, WI.

She was born July 19, 1951 in Lancaster, the daughter of Alvin and Lorraine (Mulholland) Foley. She was united in marriage to Allen J. Klaas on November 9, 1974 in Lancaster, WI. Jane graduated from Lancaster High School in 1969. She then went on to cosmetology school in Madison, WI. She graduated from Accredited College in Madison, WI in 1970.

Over the years Jane went to work at Orchard Manor in Lancaster, Good Samaritan Home in Fennimore, Kounty K Kuts which resided in her home, and Morningside Assisted Living in Lancaster until present. Jane loved her family and supported them. Watching her family grow and playing with her grandchildren was always priority. She enjoyed going to ballgames and movies with her husband and family. Jane was supportive in the Catholic Church and Religion. She was a Eucharistic Minister, led the rosary at St. Clement Church, taught CCD, belonged to the Catholic Daughters, participated in Image Group through St. Clement Parish, and she went to chapel in Fennimore, at St. Marys Church in Fennimore.

She is survived by her husband, Allen (Al) Klaas, Lancaster; four children, Brandon (Kessa) Klaas, Becky (Justin) Hampton, Brad Klaas, engaged to Jessica Reynolds, and Brianna Klaas, engaged to Shane Reuter; six grandchildren, Ian Klaas son of Brad Klaas, Haley and Whitney Hampton daughters of Becky and Justin Hampton, Kesa and Kyla Klaas daughters of Brandon and Kessa Klaas, and Jaida Reuter daughter of Brianna Klaas (Shane Reuter); three siblings, Karen Foley, Madison, Wi, Dave (Janice) Foley, Sun Prairie, WI, and Richard (Cathy) Foley, Watertown, WI; and adopted sister, Shelly Sterling.

She was preceded in death by her father on April 7, 1985 and her mother on March 29, 1994.

Funeral services were held at St. Clement Catholic Church in Lancaster, at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, March 7, 2011, with Father Michael Moon and Father William Siepp officiating. Burial was in the St. Clement Church Cemetery. Friends called from: 4 8 p.m. on Sunday, March 6, 2011 at St. Clement Church in Lancaster, where a parish rosary will be said at 3:45 p.m., and friends also called one hour prior to the service Monday at the church.

A memorial fund is being established in her loving memory. Jane was a rich woman, not with money, but with kindness, love, and compassion that will be sadly missed by those who had the joy and privilege of knowing and loving her. Schwartz Funeral Home in Lancaster is serving her family.

Joyce Klaas

Joyce A. Klaas, age 63, of Lancaster, WI, died on Thursday, November 28, 2013, at Grant Regional Health Center in Lancaster.

Joyce (Schmitz) Klaas was born on March 4, 1950, in Lancaster, daughter of Leo and Sylvia (Broihahn) Schmitz. She married Ray Klaas on July 25, 1970 in Lancaster.

Joyce enjoyed the early evening drives with Ray to watch for deer in the local area.

Surviving are her husband, Ray Klaas of Lancaster; a sister, Joan (John) Ames of Lancaster; son-in-law, Cord Myers of Beetown; grandchildren, Jesse and Heather Myers; sisters-in-law, Mary (Bill) Wisneski of Mesa, AZ, and Kathleen (Donald) Lau of Cassville; brothers-in-law, Ken (Jane) Klaas of Lancaster, Bill (Cindy) Klaas of Lancaster, and John (Tammy) Klaas of Mineral Point; numerous nieces and nephews; and her two beloved cats, Heidi & Holly.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Kim; her parents, Leo and Sylvia Schmitz; sister-in-law, Dixie and Dennis Lau; and parents-in-law, Floyd and Lorraine Klaas.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held at 11 a.m. on Monday, December 2, 2013, at St. Clements Catholic Church, Lancaster, with Fr. John Sasse officiating. Burial followed in St. Clements Catholic Cemetery. Friends called on Sunday, December 1, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Schwartz Funeral Home, 142 W. Oak, Lancaster. There was a scripture service at 4:30 p.m., followed by a rosary. Friends may also call one hour prior to the service Monday at the funeral home.

Lorraine M. Klaas

Lorraine M. Klaas, age 86, of Lancaster, died on Wednesday, September 11, 2013, at Orchard Manor Nursing Home in Lancaster. Lorraine (Moore) Klaas was born on February 17, 1927, in Little Grant Township, daughter of Harley and Leone (Ames) Moore. She married Floyd Klaas on November 25, 1947 in Lancaster. Lorraine enjoyed playing cards and hearing from her family and friends. She supported Floyd with the Klaas Floor Covering business, and was a realtor in Mesa, AZ, before returning to Lancaster.

Surviving are her children: Ray (Joyce) Klaas of Lancaster; Mary (William) Wisneski of Mesa, AZ; Kathleen (Donald) Lau of Cassville; Ken (Jane) Klaas of Lancaster; Bill (Cindy) Klaas of Lancaster; and John (Tammy) Klaas of Mineral Point. Her siblings: Allen (Mary) Moore, Harley Joe (Vivian) Moore, Judy (Charlie) Kuenster, Larry (Peggy) Moore, Linda (Ted) Wilson, and two sisters-in-law, Katie Klaas and Alice Moore. Lorraine had 17 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd, her parents Harley and Leone Moore, father and mother in-law Aloys and Elizabeth (Lange) Klaas, her daughter and son-in-law, Dixie and Dennis Lau, granddaughter, Kim Myers (daughter of Ray and Joyce), siblings: Gereld and Betty Jo Moore, Johnnie and Evelyn Moore, Paul Moore, and in-laws: Orlin and Eldeen Klaas, Harold and Lilas Klaas, Aelred Klaas, Earl and Marjorie Klaas, and Tom and Marian Bowers.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Friday, September 13, 2013, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Clement Catholic Church in Lancaster with Father John Sasse officiating. Burial was in St. Clement Cemetery, Lancaster. Family and friends called on Friday morning from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at Schwartz Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 142 W. Oak, in Lancaster.

John Kleckner

John "Jack" Kass Kleckner, age 91, passed away on Easter Sunday, March 27, 2016, surrounded by his loving family at Atrium Post Acute Care in Lancaster. He was born to Alfred and Mary (Kass) Kleckner on March 14, 1925, in Neillsville, WI. John graduated from Neillsville High School and then served in the U.S. Army during WWII (1943-1945) in North Africa and Italy. He was united in marriage to Doris Ruth Zerbel on January 7, 1948, in Neillsville.

John worked in the family feed business for 12 years in Neillsvile. In 1958 he became employed with the Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation Service, U.S. Dept. of Agriculture, in Stevens Point. He retired from ASCS in Lancaster in 1986. In his younger days, he was active in the Masonic Lodge and served as a Master, High Priest, and Commander. He enjoyed singing and sang in church choirs in both Neillsville and Stevens Point, where he also held various church offices. John was a current member of the Lancaster United Methodist Church.

Some of John's favorite activities included bridge and golf. He enjoyed playing party bridge, duplicate, and marathon bridge. After retirement many of his summer days were spent on the golf course in Lancaster. John and his wife, Doris, also golfed, sang, and played bridge for 18 winters in Mesa, AZ. John enjoyed Doris's home cooking and the fresh vegetables they grew in a small garden plot in their backyard.

John is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Doris; two beloved daughters, Jayne (Richard Helmke) Kleckner of Plover and Sandra (Denny) Drew of Portage; three grandsons, Calvin (Rachel) Milbach of Anacortes, WA, Kevin (Erin) Milbach of Madison, Ryan (Ashley Goldsworthy) Drew of Oxford; one granddaughter, Andrea Drew of Spooner; one great-grandson, Kade Drew; son-in-law, Ken Grzesiak, of Stevens Point; and one sister, Joyce Duckert of Janesville.

John was preceded in death by his parents; beloved daughter, Wendy Kleckner; and a brother-in-law, Robert Duckert.

Funeral services with military honors was held on Thursday, March 31, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at the United Methodist Church, 216 S. Monroe St. in Lancaster with Pastor Barbara Cook officiating. Private family burial will be held at a later date. Family and friends called on Thursday from 9:30 a.m. until time of services at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the National Parkinson Foundation or the United Methodist Church of Lancaster. Esther Klein

Esther M. Klein, age 95, of Cassville, died on Thursday, July 26, 2012, at Grant Regional Health Center in Lancaster. She was born on March 21, 1917, the daughter of Fred and Belva (Duncan) Clauer. Esther attended Muscallounge and Beetown country schools. On January 23, 1935, Esther was united in marriage to Leonard Klein in Galena, IL. After their marriage, the couple farmed in Beetown and Cassville Townships. Esther enjoyed sewing, baking and spending time with her family.

Survivors include her children: Lawrence (Rita Ley) Klein; Maurice (Mayre) Klein; Ramona Mona (Fred) Summers; Steve (Sharon) Klein; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; sister, Maxine Weber; brothers: William (Betty) Clauer; Paul (Shirley) Clauer; JohnJack (Margaret) Clauer; sister-in-law, Darlene Clauer; other relatives and many friends.

In addition to her parents, Esther was preceded in death by a son, Robert (Barb) Klein; a daughter-in-law, Joan Klein; brothers and sisters: Robert Clauer, Betty Clauer, Ella (Bob) Blackbourn; Pauline Kaufman; Joyce Kelly; Jim Clauer; and two great-great grandchildren: Andrew Bahl and Mason Klein.

Funeral services were held on Monday, July 30, 2012, at 10:30 a.m. at Schwartz Funeral Home in Lancaster with Reverend Pamela Strakeljahn officiating. Burial was in Hillside Cemetery, Lancaster. Dorothy E. Klein

Dorothy E. Klein, ae 96, formerly of Potosi , passed away on Wednesday, November 18, 2009 at Orchard Manor in rural Lancaster . She was born on October 21, 1913, the daughter of Walter and Ada (Crowther) Kuster in Potosi Township , WI . Dorothy graduated from Franklin High School in Potosi in 1932. She was united in marriage to Alfred A. Klein on January 28, 1936 at St. Thomas Catholic Church in Potosi . He preceded her in death on June 29, 1987.

Joan L. Klein

Joan L. Klein, age 72, of Cassville, died on Sunday, January 2, 2011, after a courageous battle with cancer at her home. She was born on March 27, 1938, in Prairie du Chien, the daughter of William and Mary (Harwood) Dechow. Joan attended Elwell Grade School in Waterloo Township and graduated from Cassville High School in 1955. On September 8, 1962, Joan was united in marriage to Lawrence A. Klein at her parents home in Waterloo Township. She worked in the dietary department for over thirty years at Orchard Manor Nursing Home. Joan was a member of the United Methodist Church in Beetown and Cassville. She enjoyed cooking, baking, camping, fishing, reading, swimming and going out for Chinese food and garage sales.

Survivors include her husband, Lawrence A. Klein, Cassville; children: Vicki (Robert) Gengler, Lancaster; Michelle (Don) Bennett, Lancaster; Dave (Rochelle) Klein, Athens, WI; Shawn (Jen) Klein, Denver, CO; Annette Klein, Cassville; Dan (Michelle) Klein, Bloomington; eleven grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; one brother, Calvin (Lois) Dechow, Cassville; mother-in-law, Esther Klein, Cassville; nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Joan was preceded in death by an infant twin sister, a grandson, Andrew Bahl and a brother, Robert Dechow.

Vincent W. Klein

Vincent William Klein, age 77, of Potosi, went to be with the Lord on March 29, 2013, surrounded by family at his home following a battle with pancreatic cancer.

Vincent was born May 4, 1935, in Potosi, the son of Henry and Laura (Langkamp) Klein. On February 28, 1963 he married Phyllis Brogley. They were members of the St. Andrew-Thomas Parish of Tennyson, Wisconsin. Vincent and Phyllis farmed in Potosi for 40 years and raised eleven children. Vincent was hard working and owned a dairy farm. He enjoyed fishing which led to a fishworm business with the catch phrase of Klein's Worms Catch the Biggest Fish. He also enjoyed watching the Badgers and Packers, gardening, raising game birds, playing cards with friends, watching and feeding the birds, morel hunting, putting puzzles together and always keeping the last piece just to say he finished the puzzle. Vincent sold the farm in 2002 and they built a home up the road from the family farm. His biggest joy was having his family around especially on the holidays. He loved his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Vincent is survived by his wife, Phyllis Klein of Potosi; his children, Cheree (Dale) Frederickson, Sue (Doug) Augustin, Todd (Amy) Klein, Janet (Jeff) Koll, Jacqueline (John) Pegelow, Brenda (Jeffrey) Vondra, Cindy (Jeff) Erstad, Vicki (Marvin) Thompson, Eric (Mandy) Klein, and Carrie Klein and fianc Shawn Monroe; brothers and sisters, Loretta Reuter, Joseph (Eileen) Klein, Robert (Dolores) Klein, Nick (Marge) Klein, Paul (Eevie) Klein, Francis (Ann) Klein, Larry (Jane) Klein, Marcella Klein, and Eileen Birkett and 22 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, brother-in-law, Art Schoot.

Vincent was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter Karen Klein, two grandchildren: Justin and Ashley Vondra, a sister, Donna Schoot, and two brothers-in-law, Clifford Reuter and Paul Birkett.

Funeral services were held Saturday, April 6, 2013, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Andrew Catholic Church in Tennyson with Father Richard Leffler officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery. Ruth Klinkhammer

Ruth M. Klinkhammer, age 86, of Prairie du Chien, died on Thursday, January 10, 2013, at Grant Regional Health Center, Lancaster. She was born on November 28, 1926, in Bagley, the daughter of Benjamin and Dora (Ariss) Quick. Ruth graduated from Bloomington High School in 1944. On June 9, 1946, she was united in marriage to Jesse Klinkhammer. After their marriage the couple farmed in Mount Hope Township. Ruth was a member of St. Lawrence OToole Catholic Church, Royal Neighbors, and Wisconsin Women for Agriculture. She enjoyed crafting, knitting, sewing and quilting.

Survivors include her children: Michael (Karen) Klinkhammer, Paul (Connie) Klinkhammer, Mary (Eugene) Sawvell; grandchildren: Michael Klinkhammer, Stacey (Steven) Watson, Jason, Travis, and Amanda (fianc Andrew Weigel) Klinkhammer, Stacey Martin, Andy Lucas, and Jenni Kellogg; eleven great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; her brother, Charles Chuck (Catherine) Quick; sisters-in-law, Ivanelle and Anna Quick; her cat, Rasco; other relatives and many friends.

In addition to her parents, and her step-mother, Dove Quick, Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, a granddaughter, Julie Konichek; brothers: Russell, Robert, and William; and step-sister, Janice Ariss.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday, January 15, 2013, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Lawrence OToole Catholic Church in Mount Hope with Father Miguel Galvez officiating. Vivian A. Klinkhammer

Vivian A. Klinkhammer, age 89, of Lancaster, formerly of Glen Haven, died on Monday, March 23, 2009, at the Lancaster Care Center, Lancaster. She was born on December 8, 1919, in Bagley, the daughter of Clinton and Nina (Weed) Jacobs. Vivian graduated from Patch Grove High School. On June 13, 1940, she was united in marriage to Mark Klinkhammer at St. Marys Catholic Church in Glen Haven. Vivian was employed at Rapid Die in Cassville for many years. She was a member of St. Marys Catholic Church in Glen Haven, a member of the Altar Society. Vivian enjoyed doing genealogy. She was quoted as saying, Weve gotten back to a relative who visited George Washington at Mt. Vernona and also signed the Constitution, who knows, maybe we came on the Mayflower. She was a proud member of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution, Ft. Crawford Chapter. Vivian loved NASCAR, especially Dale Earnhardt, Jr., fishing, playing cards, oil painting and was an avid Cubs fan. She always said her only claim to success was to raise three children as descent human beings.

In addition to her parents, Vivian was preceded in death by her husband, Mark in 1986, a daughter, Karen Tornowske in 1999 and a sister, Norma Jean Graf.

Survivors include her children: Wayne (Sharon) Klinkhammer, Montgomery, AL; Kay (Greg) Appelt, Bloomington; grandchildren: LTC Ian (Teri) Klinkhammer, Brian (Angela) Klinkhammer, Stacey Klinkhammer, Greg Appelt, Mark Belke, Hope Tornowske, and Matthew Tornowske; great-grandchildren: Cary, Nick, Eric, Kilye, and Taylor Klinkhammer; a good friend, Karen P. Myers, Columbia, MO; other relatives and many friends.

Memorial services were held on Wednesday, March 25, 2009, at 10:30 a.m. at the Lancaster Care Center Chapel, Lancaster, with Father William Seipp officiating. Burial will be at a later date. Friends called on Wednesday, March 25, 2009, following the memorial service prior to a luncheon at the Lancaster Care Center, Lancaster. In lieu of plants and flowers, the family suggests memorials be given to the Lancaster Care Center.

Donald E. Klossing

Donald E. Klossing, age 75, of Cassville, passed away Friday, December 24, 2010, at Grant Regional Health Center in Lancaster.

He was born on October 7, 1935, in Carmen, IL, the son of Elmer and Dorothy (Lund) Klossing. Don graduated from Gladstone-Oquawka High School and attended Western Illinois University and was then called to serve in the U.S. Army. He married Nancy E. Day on April, 7, 1962. They farmed in the Yorkville/Plano, Illinois area for many years and he was also employed at Waubonsee Community College as Plant Operator.

Don and Nancy moved to Cassville in 1994, where he enjoyed his retirement years. Don enjoyed reading and had an avid love for his dogs, horses, the Chicago Bears and White Sox. He also enjoyed his many friends that he saw during his daily routine.

He is survived by his wife, Nancy and two daughters Amy (Mike) Enlow and Ann (Brian) Conley; five grandchildren: Madeline Bode; Parker Enlow; Ben, Brandon and Breanne Conley; a sister, Verlee (William) Hatcher, Plano IL and one brother, Dean (Joanne) Klossing, Biggsville, IL.; sister-in-law, Pat (Don) Ammons of Sandwich, IL, and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Barbara (Paul) Schroeder, Stronghurst, IL.

Family and friends called on Sunday, January 2, 2011, from 11:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. at the Burton Town Hall, Burton, WI. Burial with military honors will be held at a later date. Joan C. Kluesner

Joan C. Kluesner, age 73, of Bloomington, WI, died at the Lancaster Care Center on June 9^th after a swift and furious battle with cancer. She was a loving and devoted daughter, wife, mother, grandmother and sister.

Joan was born on January 8^th, 1940, on her grandparents farm in Bloomington to William and Mary (Welchert) Wagner. She was raised in Bloomington and attended high school there. She married Clarence Kluesner on August 20^th, 1956.

She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Clarence Kluesner; her children, Laurie (Chuck) Kessler of Onalaska, WI, Terry (Tim) Dittman of Dousman, WI, Bill (Sharon) Kluesner of Bloomington, WI, Tony (Brenda) Kluesner of Bloomington, WI, and Chris Disch of Fitchburg, WI; ten grandchildren, Michael, Annie and Jennifer Kessler; Ana Dittman; Justin and Katie Kluesner and Brett, Brandi, Bart and Bo Kluesner; her mother, Mary Wagner of Lancaster; brothers, Dave (Paula) Wagner, of Panama City, FL, Gene (LuAnne) Wagner of Lancaster; sisters, Sally (Leo) Skaife of Beloit, WI, Jane (Tom) Schill of Arlington, WI, and Becky (Bill) Popp of Lancaster, WI. Joan was preceded in death by her father, William Wagner.

In addition to farming with her husband, Joan collected taxes for the Township of Bloomington for twenty five years and held other various jobs in Bloomington, most recently with Sloan Implement and WARCO Transportation. She was very devoted to church activities at St. Marys Catholic Church in Bloomington and enjoyed being a member of the choir as well as serving on a variety of other committees.

Joan was happiest when surrounded by her family and especially loved to follow the activities of her grandchildren. She will be remembered as someone who took little and gave much as she could often be found extending herself to anyone and everyone who needed a helping hand without expecting anything in return. Her generous spirit, exceptional work ethic, and friendly personality will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Well done, good and faithful servant. Matthew 25:21.

Calvin C. Knapp

Calvin C. Bud Knapp, age 89, of Lancaster, passed away Monday, July 7, 2014, at Mercy Medical Center in Dubuque, IA. He was born on October 1, 1924, in Little Grant Township, the son of Clarence and Belva (Jeidy) Knapp. Calvin graduated from Bloomington High School in 1942. On March 17, 1949, he was united in marriage to Dolores R. Stoney at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Burton. After their marriage, the couple farmed the family farm in Little Grant Township. Calvin drove school bus for Lancaster Community Schools for nineteen years. He was a charter member of the West Grant Saddle Club and the Badger Quarter Horse Association. Calvin was a member of the 4-H Adult Leaders, Hampshire Sheep Breeders Association, Wisconsin Sheep Producers, Southwest Regional High School Rodeo and Wisconsin High School Rodeo. He was a superintendent for the Grant County Fair and Blakes Prairie Junior Fair and served as a trustee for the Grant County Livestock Trust. Calvin was active in showing his Hampshire Sheep at county and state fairs, and National Livestock Show in Louisville, KY. In 2013, he won Supreme Champion Ram at the North American International Livestock Show.

Calvin dearly loved his family and enjoyed watching his children and grandchildren in sporting events and traveling to many National High School Rodeos to support them.

Survivors include his sons: Roger (Carolyn White-Knapp); Tom (Jann); Gale (Cheryl) Knapp; his daughters, Jolene (Mike) Junk, Sarah (fianc Steve Irish) White; Lonna (fianc Rob Nelson) Kwallek; 23 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; sister, Wava Curnow; daughter-in-law, Karen (Bob) Bedward; son-in-law, Roy Mumm; sister-in-law, Marie Stoney; nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Calvin was preceded in death by his wife, Dolores, son, Douglas, daughter, Dawne Mumm, brothers-in-law, Wes Curnow and Clarence Stoney; and a sister-in-law, Opal (Paul) Bartels.

Funeral Services were held on Saturday, July 12, 2014, at 10:00 a.m. at the Lancaster United Methodist Church in Lancaster with Reverend Mary Ann Floerke officiating. Burial was in Little Grant Cemetery, Little Grant Township. Family and friends called on Friday, July 11, 2014, from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Lancaster United Methodist Church and on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until time of services at the church. Gerald Knapp

Gerald F. Knapp, age 87, of Bloomington, died on Friday, July 16, 2010, at his home in Bloomington. He was born on March 28, 1923, in Beetown Township, the son of Miner and Helen Knapp. He graduated from Bloomington High School with numerous awards. On June 17, 1947, Gerald was united in marriage to Evelyn Skip Schleicher at the Presbyterian Church in Lancaster. After their marriage, they farmed on the Knapp Century Farm in Beetown Township. Gerald served on the Bloomington School Board, the Blakes Prairie Fair Board and Grant County Farm Bureau. He was the President of Farmers Telephone Company for many years, helped organize and develop Bloomington Farmers Co-op and Nova Directories. Gerald also served as the Chairman of Beetown Township. He enjoyed sports, playing cards, and dancing.

Survivors include his wife, Evelyn Skip Knapp, Bloomington; two sons: James Jim (Donna) Knapp and John (Betty) Knapp, both of Bloomington; six daughters: Sandra (Mike) Kabele, Lancaster; Vicki (Howard) Sanborn, Lancaster; Debra Debbie (Mark) Bierman, Bloomington; Cherie (Mike) Mozuch, Oregon; Bonnie (Tom) Gross, Reedsburg; and Kristine (Bill Blatterman) Arsenault, Madison; son-in-law, Dan Nies, Patch Grove; 26 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Shirley Ronan and Virginia Ward, both of Bloomington; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

In addition to his parents, Gerald was preceded in death by a daughter, Rebecca L. Nies and two brother-in-laws: James Ronan and Earl Ward.

Laura J. Knapp

Laura J. Knapp, age 89, of Lancaster, passed away Monday, July 14, 2008 at Orchard Manor Nursing Home, rural Lancaster. She was born September 12, 1918, in Bagley, WI, the daughter of Casper and Clara (Knutson) Ready. Laura attended Bagley schools and graduated in 1936. After graduation, she worked in La Crosse, WI. She married Arnold O. Brookens, Sr. on October 9, 1937 in Platteville, WI. They lived in Glen Haven and had a son, Arnold Brookens, Jr. Laura assisted with the family business by taking care of bookkeeping for their DX oil refinery. Arnold Sr. passed away and she later married Charles Chuck Knapp at First English Lutheran Church in Platteville. He also preceded her in death. Laura enjoyed cooking, reading, and big family get-togethers. She also enjoyed visiting and keeping in touch with family and friends daily by telephone. Laura was employed at the Grant County Hospital and Home now Orchard Manor until she retired.

Laura is survived by her son, Arnold (Sharon) Brookens, Jr., Lancaster; three grandchildren: Robert (Shelley) Brookens, Lone Rock; Scott (Pam) Brookens, Platteville; and Rebecca (Mark) Schemmel, Asbury, IA; four great-grandchildren; one brother, Walter Ready, Bagley; and one sister, Darlene (Roy) Kochanowski, Madison.

She was preceded in death by her parents, both husbands; and four brothers: Donald, Arthur, LaVern, and Virgil Ready.

Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 16, 2008 at Christ Lutheran Church in Lancaster with the Reverend David Froemming officiating. Burial was in the Bagley Cemetery. Visitation was held on Wednesday, July 16, 2008 from 9:00 a.m. until the time of services at the church.

Robert E. Knapp

Robert E. Knapp, age 83, of Lancaster, passed away Tuesday, August 13, 2013, after a courageous battle with cancer at Orchard Manor Nursing Home, rural Lancaster. He was born March 12, 1930 the son of Fred and Hattie (Pierce) Knapp.

Bob graduated from Lancaster High School in1948. He married Lorraine E. Adams on September 16, 1948. Bob enjoyed baseball in high school as a pitcher, and played softball for many years. He enjoyed watching all sports. Bob was very innovative in trying new techniques with modern equipment in his farming career. He was proud to be a steward of the land on the Knapp family farm. Later in life he took pride in his strawberry and pumpkin patches. Bob would try to make a daily visit to MAs Bakery in Bloomington to see his friends, play cards or go to the boat.

Surviving is his wife Lorraine; their children: David; Cindy (Robert) Quick; Richard; Sue (Dan) Thole; Fred (Deb); Dennis (Annette); Lynn; and Ed (Mary) Knapp; twenty five grandchildren, thirty three great grandchildren, three great great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three grandchildren, Angie, Rebecca and Adam Knapp, two sisters, Kathryn (Firmin) Schildgen, Doris (Claude) Schmieder, and his brother, Charles (Laura) Knapp.

Funeral services were held on Friday, August 16, 2013, at 10:30 am at St. Marys Catholic Church in Bloomington with Fr. John Meinholz officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery. Friends called on Thursday, August 15, 2013, from 4 pm to 8 pm and on Friday from 9:30 until time of services at the church. Virginia A. Knodle

Virginia A. (Metcalfe) Knodle, age 67, of Madison, formerly of Bloomington, died on Wednesday, November 18, 2009, at University Hospitals in Madison of heart failure. She was born June 21, 1942, in Lancaster and grew up in Bloomington. Her parents were Robert and Mary Metcalfe. Ginny graduated from Bloomington High School and attended UW-Whitewater, where she met her future husband, Dale Knodle of Rockford, IL. They were married for nearly 25 years before being divorced in 1985. For the last 20 years, Ginny lived in Madison.

Surviving her are her mother, Mary Metcalfe of Bloomington; children: Erik (Wendy) of Rockton, IL, and Kelli Hanson of Waterloo, WI; three granddaughters, Mackenzie Dauber of Oregon, WI, and Sydney and Emily Knodle of Rockton, IL; a sister, Kathy (Steve) Derene of Madison; and a brother, Tom (Peggy) Metcalfe of Eau Claire. Nieces and nephews include Jennifer Metcalfe of Butternut, Michael Derene of Madison, Nick Derene, of Gardener, MT, and Casey and Carly Metcalfe of Eau Claire.

Ginny was known for her love of people and her great desire to help out where she could. When she lived in Belvidere, IL, she taught preschoolers for nearly 10 years and also worked with people with disabilities. In addition to energetically rooting for her beloved Chicago Cubs and the Bears, she enjoyed shopping for clothes and showing off her family photos. Ginny was loved by everyone who knew her, including her friends at St. Marys Adult Day Center in Madison, especially Jodie Brown; her neighbors at Wexford Ridge; and the staff of Legacy Gardens assisted living, who were just getting to know her when she became ill and died.

Memorial services were held on Wednesday, November 25, 2009, at 1:00 p.m. at Martin Funeral Home in Bloomington with Father Bart Timmerman officiating. Burial was in St. Marys Cemetery, Bloomington. Gale Koelker

Gale H. "Ike" Koelker, age 85, formerly of Cassville, passed away on Sunday, December 20, 2015, at Atrium Post Acute Care in Lancaster after a struggle with dementia the past six years. He was born on August 4, 1930, in Grant County, the son of Joseph F. Koelker, Sr. and Wilma M. (Batchleor) Koelker. Ike graduated from Cassville High School. He loved sports and was captain of the basketball team and was a really great baseball player. Ike always had a love for horses and mules. Ike traveled around with some rodeo friends and did trick roping in the summer. He entertained at the rodeos and at parades and also did clown work at the rodeos. On August 17, 1951, he was united in marriage to Louise Pierce. Ike entered the United States Air Force on August 21, 1951, and was honorably discharged in 1955. Following his discharge, he began employment at Dairy Land Power Plant and worked there for nine years. Ike had many other jobs until he went out on his own as a qualified electrician. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

Survivors include his loving wife of 64 years, Louise; three children: Debra (Irv) Wadsworth, Las Vegas, NV; Randy (Bernice) Koelker, Cassville; Jacki (Bill) Ley, Cassville; 9 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; a sister, Della Mae (Terry) Davenport, Homosassa, FL; sister-in-law, Joyce Koelker, Cassville; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

In addition to his parents, Ike was preceded in death by his siblings: Joseph "Bud," Lawrence "Larry," and Patricia Koelker.

Frederick Koeller

Frederick W. Fred Koeller, age 89, of Potosi, entered eternal rest on Thursday, November 13, 2014, at his lifelong family home. He was born on November 29, 1924, in Potosi, the son of Fred E. and Louise (Fritz) Koeller. Fred graduated from Potosi High School in 1942. Upon graduation, he returned to the family farm. On September 24, 1946, Fred was united in marriage to Dorothy Dresen in Platteville. After their marriage the couple continued to farm the family farm and raised a family. Fred enjoyed bowling, playing cards, playing marbles, and was an avid Badgers and Packers fan. He dearly loved his family and family gatherings at his lifetime home. Fred was a member of the Potosi School Board for seventeen years and was a member of St. Andrew Catholic Church.

Survivors include his loving wife of sixty-eight years, Dorothy; their children: Dianne (Don) Jaworski; Ruth (Dan) Bailey; Janice (Larry) Ploessl; Richard (Cindy) Koeller; a son-in-law, Bill Schmitz; fourteen grandchildren: Brian (Corrine) Jaworski; Jill (Mike) Anderson; Jason (Jacqueline) Jaworski; Gina (David) Reinhard; Andrew Jaworski; Todd (Anita) Schmitz; Lisa (Brian) Abing; Jessica (Chris) Cauthen; Nicole (Brian) Stafeil; Travis (Trisha) Downs; Thomas (Casey) Downs; Andrea (Jeremy) White; Dan Koeller; Alex Koeller; twenty-two great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; three sisters-in-law; other relatives and many friends.

Rebecca L. Koeller

Rebecca L. Becky Koeller, age 44, of Platteville, passed away on Wednesday, December 5, 2012, at her home surrounded by her family. She was born on November 18, 1968, in Cuba City, the daughter of Kenny and Linda (Schroeder) Kieffer. Becky graduated from Southwestern High School in 1987. On August 11, 1990, she was united in marriage to Terry Koeller at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Kieler. Together the couple farmed in Ellenboro Township. Becky was also employed at the Hound Supper Club for eighteen years. She owned and operated Koeller Kennels and Boarding. Becky loved her dogs and had a passion for caring for the dogs that she boarded. She enjoyed NASCAR racing, horses, and her beloved dogs. Becky also enjoyed family gatherings and taking pictures. She had a heart of gold and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Survivors include her husband, Terry Koeller, Platteville; her parents, Kenny Kieffer, Oxford and Linda Kieffer, Kieler; her siblings: Tim (Monica) Kieffer, Oregon; Patti (Scott) Smith, Dubuque, IA; Julie (fianc Terry Redfearn) Schuchart, Hazel Green; her mother-in-law, Carolyn Sitsy Koeller, Kieler; sisters-in-law: Lori (Tom) Sedgwick, Potosi; Karla (Tracy) Caley, Bloomington; Kathy (Mark) Pickel, Hazel Green; a brother-in-law, Brian (special friend, Misty Streif) Koeller, Lancaster; special family, Larry and Ellen Freiburger family, East Dubuque, IL; also her beloved canine family: Ava, Vin Diesel, and Ema; nieces and nephews: Kaitlyn, Jessica, Chelsea, Jordyn, Spencer, Cody, Becky, Ben (Jill), Brittany, Elizabeth, Andrew, and Amber; great niece and nephew: Kameron and Peyton; other relatives and many friends.

Kathleen Koeller

Kathleen M. Koeller, age 85, of Potosi, passed away on Monday, May 09, 2016, at Orchard Manor Nursing Home, Lancaster surrounded by her loving family. She was born on February 16, 1931, the daughter of Raymond and Dorothy (Schollmeyer) Nihles. On November 16, 1949, Kathleen was united in marriage to Gerald C. Koeller at St. Clement Catholic Church in Lancaster. Together, they operated the family farm just outside of Potosi for more than 50 years. Kathleen's passion in life was being a wife and mother, a true matriarch. She was a loving caregiver to her family, realizing their successes were her successes. No one ever left the house without hearing the phrase, ''come back again'' trailing them out the door as she always had a ''not-so-secret stash'' of ice cream treats waiting for them to return. In this life Kathleen was a lot to a lot of people. She was a daughter, older sister, devoted wife, giving mother, loving grandmother, friend and a life-long neighbor. She will be missed, but her legacy lives on in the many lives she has touched.

Survivors include her loving husband, Gerald; their eleven children: James Koeller; JoAnn (Bill) Williams; Donna Outlaw; Barbara Weber; Vicki Laugesen; Janet (John) Reding; Marcia (Doug) Kephart; Rita (Mike) Wehinger; John Koeller; Danny (Jill) Koeller; Karen Koeller; 18 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren and Baby Reding on the way; her siblings: Judy (Stanley) Henry; Merlyn (Mary) Nihles; sister-in-law: Delores Nihles; nieces, nephews, and many members of the Koeller family.

Virginia M. Koeller

Virginia M. Koeller, age 90, of Potosi, died on Wednesday, February 15, 2012, at Orchard Manor Nursing Home. She was born on January 2, 1922, the daughter of Tony and Veronica (Lyness) Meyer. On April 21, 1942, Virginia married Harold Koeller at Immaculate Conception Church in Boscobel. Together they farmed, raised five children and ran Koellers Texaco for many years. Virginia was known for her cooking, baking skills and the many quilts she loved to create. She cooked for many area events and weddings and made potato salad and coleslaw for the annual Catfish Festival for many years. She was an avid sports fan and loved the Potosi Chieftains, Chicago Cubs, and Green Bay Packers. Virginia received the Friends of Education Award for her loyal support of all activities at the Potosi School District. She also worked all local elections until her health forced her to quit. Virginia was a lifetime member of St. Thomas Catholic Church. She has been a resident of Orchard Manor Nursing Home for the past eight years. Virginia loved her family and never missed anything her children and grandchildren were involved in.

Survivors include four children: Gary (Sandy) Koeller; Sharon Bierman; David (Phyllis) Koeller and Bonnie (Bruce Wackershauser) Dailey; eight grandchildren: Jeff (Jody) Koeller, Craig (Melissa) Bierman; Stacey (Tony) Wagner; Brad (Suzy) Bierman; Shelly (Ryan) Fecht; Lea (Dave) Montross; Brett (Karen) Koeller; Sarah (Eric) Steiner; thirteen great-grandchildren; three step great-grandchildren; and a sister, Annette (James) Ward.

In addition to her parents, Virginia was preceded in death by her loving husband of 57 years, Harold; a son, Dennis; and her step-mother, Violet Peak.

Warren H. Koeller

Warren H. Koeller, age 92, of Lancaster, formerly of Tennyson, died on Monday, July 8, 2013, at his home in Lancaster. He was born on November 2, 1920, in Potosi Township, the son of Fred and Louisa (Fritz) Koeller. On November 3, 1942, Warren was united in marriage to Lucille Bailie at her family farm in South Lancaster Township. After their marriage the couple farmed fourteen years in the Lancaster area until the purchase of their farm in Potosi Township. He was a member of Davies Memorial United Church of Christ and also served as trustee. He belonged to the F&AM Warren Lodge No. 4 of Potosi; served as a supervisor for Potosi Township from 1968 until 1984, and was on the ASC Committee. Warren enjoyed hunting from deer to turkeys to morels. He also enjoyed many fishing trips here and in northern Wisconsin, plus traveling to Canada and throughout the United States.

Survivors include his wife, Lucille, Lancaster; one son, John Koeller, Prairie du Chien; three daughters, Judy (Larry) Maahs, Linda (Bob) Schmelz, all of Potosi; Doreen Wagner, Fennimore; nine grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; nine step-great-grandchildren; and many members of the Koeller and Bailie family.

In addition to his parents, Warren was preceded in death by many brothers and sisters and their spouses; a son-in-law, Kenneth Wagner; a grandson, Daniel R. Schmelz and many nieces and nephews.

Margaret Koopman

Omer C. Koopman

Omer C. Koopman, age 91, of Bloomington, died on Monday, March 22, 2010, at his home. He was born on September 3, 1918, in Bloomington, the son of Martin and Catherine (Nurre) Koopman. Omer graduated from St. Marys Catholic School in Bloomington. On November 6, 1940, he was united in marriage to Margaret M. OShaughnessy at St. Patricks Catholic Church in Seneca. After their marriage, they farmed on the Koopman family farm for sixty years. Omer also sold insurance for twenty years with Rural Insurance Company. He enjoyed playing softball, golf, cards and craps at the casino. Omer was a three time State Corn Husking Champion in the late 1930s and early 1940s. He was a devoted member of St. Marys Catholic Church in Bloomington, the Holy Name Society and was a Prayer Warrior for the Lord.

Survivors include his wife of sixty-nine years, Margaret Koopman, Bloomington; three daughters: Mary Sue (Earl) Sewell, Vilonina, AR; Sharon Barr, DeWitt, IA; Barbara Moss, Bloomington and one son, Jim (Laurie) Koopman, Cassville; twenty-one grandchildren; forty-two great-grandchildren; two sisters, Dorothy Munson, California and Rita Koopman, Milton; and many nieces and nephews.

Omer was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Tonya Monroe; three sons-in-law: Terry Monroe, John Barr, and Ben Moss; two brothers: Father Leander Koopman and Ralph (Mary) Koopman; and a brother-in-law, Ed Munson.

Funeral services were held on Thursday, March 25, 2010, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Marys Catholic Church in Bloomington with Father Bart Timmerman officiating. Burial was in St. Marys Cemetery, Bloomington. Gail E. Kopp

Gail E. Kopp, age 68, of Platteville, passed away at her home on Thursday, June 19, 2008. Gail was born onJune 23, 1939in Boscobel, the daughter of Max and Lela (Rotzoll) Linder. She was united in marriage with Wesly Kopp at theFirstMethodistChurchin Platteville onAugust 20, 1960. Growing up in Platteville, Gail spent many hours working in the familys Log Cabin Grocery Store. She graduated fromPlattevilleHigh Schooland from theUniversityofWisconsinat Platteville. Gail enjoyed a forty-two year career as a substitute teacher in the Platteville school district. She was a member of thePlattevilleUnitedMethodistChurchand a founding board member of theJamisonMuseum Association. Gail enjoyed nothing more than time spent with her family and friends. She was blessed with many good friends, including a group of life-long girlfriends with whom she shared lifes journeys. Gail also had interests in genealogy, water aerobics class, preserving wildlife, protecting animals, and visits with family inSwitzerland. Gail had a warm, gentle spirit and met her many health challenges with grace, hope, and peace. Her ability to live through the challenges of cancer inspired many others facing a health challenge. She was diagnosed with breast cancer two separate times and in 1998 had surgery and radiation to remove a metastatic tumor from her brain. No one ever told Gail she couldnt fight, and so she fought and truly lived. In January 2008, Gail learned she had pancreatic cancer. Until the very end, she remained at peace and enjoyed all she could of life. Her way was made easier by the support of her friends and family.

Survivors include her husband, Wesly Kopp, Platteville; their daughter Keely (Jeff) Thomas and grandchildren Kelby and Kerby Thomas, all of Dodgeville; their daughter Korey Kopp, Middleton; and their son Kenyon (Carrie) Kopp and grandchildren Jacob Fowler, Madelief and Max Kopp, Jackson, MI; two brothers: Merl (Rose) Linder, Albert Lea, MN; and Alan (Chris) Linder, Waukesha; a sister-in-law, Sue Lavold, Brea, CA; her cherished aunts Etta (Rotzoll) Farfan, Lima, Peru and Alice (Rotzoll) Beckman, Oconomowoc; her honorary third daughter Monika Ruegg, Schmerikon, Switzerland; her many cousins in Switzerland, other relatives and many friends.

Gail was preceded in death by her parents and her mother and father-in-law, Elmer and Betty Kopp.

Funeral services were held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, June, 23, 2008 at the Platteville United Methodist Church with Reverend John Christianson officiating. Burial was in Greenwood Cemetery, Platteville. Friends called on Sunday, June 22, 2008 from 3:30 7:00 p.m. at the church, and from 9:00 a.m. until the time of services on Monday morning. Ina Jean Ritter Koppen

Ina Jean Ritter Koppen, age 71, of Rock Hill, SC, formerly of Fennimore, died Thursday, July 9, 2009, at the Wayne T. Patrick Hospice House, Rock Hill, SC after a 42 year struggle with cancer. Ina was born September 11, 1937 in Lancaster, the daughter of William Isaac and Nettie Marie (Udelhoven) Ritter. Ina was a homemaker and enjoyed gardening, arts, crafts and visiting with family and friends. She will be greatly missed by her loved ones.

Survivors include her daughters: Colleen (Les) Binko, Mesa, AZ; Brenda (Jerry) Kent, Pearland, TX and Wanda (Brian) Kirschbaum , Clover, SC; her son: William (Brenda) Koppen, Cuba City, WI; a brother: Elmer (Pat) Ritter, Boscobel; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her fianc, Carl Nelson.

Funeral services were at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 14, 2009, at Martin Funeral Home in Lancaster with Pastor Mark Hoehne officiating. Burial was in Hurricane Cemetery, rural Lancaster. Norma Jean C. Kosharek

Norma Jean C. Kosharek, age 81, of Lancaster passed away peacefully at Orchard Manor Nursing Home on Sunday, October 24, 2010. She was born on December 20, 1928, in Potosi, the daughter of Arthur and Matilda (Milke) Keene. Norma Jean attended British Hollow School and graduated from Potosi High School in 1946. She furthered her education at Platteville College, graduating with a BS in Elementary Education. Norma Jean also attended Wynona State, Whitewater, and UW Madison and received a Life License in Art Education for grades one through eight. In 1956, Norma Jean was united in marriage to her soul mate, Henry Kosharek at Davies Memorial Church in Potosi. They lived in the Fort Atkinson areas their entire married life. Henry preceded her in death on December 19, 1983. Norma Jean taught in the Rigsby, Brawner, Beetown, WI and Cresco, IA schools before her marriage and in the Whitewater and Fort Atkinson school districts for thirty-eight years. Following Henrys death, she moved back to Lancaster where she enjoyed working in her yard and flower gardens, working in a flower shop for twelve years, and substitute teaching. She also enjoyed golfing, bowling and taking bus trips with her friends.

Survivors include her brothers: Walter (Doris) Keene and Richard (Marlene) Keene, both of Potosi; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

In addition to her parents and her husband, Henry, Norma Jean was preceded in death by a sister and brother-in-law, Marian and Robert Wolf.

At Norma Jeans request there was no funeral services. A private family burial was held at a later date at British Hollow Cemetery, Potosi. Schwartz Funeral Home in Lancaster is assisting the family. Joachim Hans Kostrau

Joachim Hans Kostrau, age 82, died at home on Friday, April 13, 2012. He was born on May 16, 1929, in Rothenburg/Oder in Germany. As a teenager, he was drafted into the German army. In May of 1945, at the end of World War II, he was taken prisoner by the British troops. In 1957, he immigrated to the United States. Joachim Hans was certified as a carpenter journeyman, had a degree in Architectural Engineering, and a good command of the English language. His education well equipped him to face and master the challenges of his adopted country. In 1958, his wife and daughter followed him to the United States. Joachim Hans was a successful architect. He worked for more than 20 years for the Milwaukee Public Schools. In 1989, he retired. He and his wife, Barbara, moved to the southwest area of Wisconsin, a historical and cultural jewel.

For 16 years, he served as a member of the Planning Commission in Wauwatosa. For 7 years, he was a member of the West Grant/River Ridge School Board. From 1993 through 2009, he was elected Supervisor of the Grant County Board 7^th District. He also served on the committee for Orchard Manor Farm and Nursing Home and the committees on Aging and Disabled, which were especially important to him. As a member of the committee for the addition to the Grant County Court House, his professional experience was valued and recognized. He was honored to be appointed to the Mississippi River Parkway Commission by Governor Doyle in 2010 and by Governor Walker in 2012. Joachim Hans believed in service to the community in an efficient and knowledgeable way.

Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Barbara Kostrau, Bagley; his daughter, Andrea (Guenter) Geisler, nee Kostrau of Munich, Germany; his son, Christian Otto of Long Beach, IN; his sisters: Irene of Menomonee Falls, WI; Christel of Munich, Germany; his sisters-in-law: Anna-Monika of MI; Adelheid of Berlin, Germany; nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Otto and Marta Kostrau, nee Braune, Joachim Hans was preceded in death by a son, Sebastian, his sisters: Ursula and Hilde and a brother, Willy.

To honor the request of Joachim Hans there will be no visitation. A Memorial Mass and private burial in the Hazelton Cemetery, Wyalusing Township, will be held at a later date. David L. Kotila

David Leroy Kotila, age 72, of Beetown, formerly ofWasilla, Alaska, died Saturday, October 13, 2012 at Mercy Medical Center in Dubuque, IA. Leroy was born on May 18, 1940 in Laurium , MI, as son of Matt and Mayme (Lantto) Kotila.

Leroy enjoyed traveling and spending time with family.

Leroy is survived by his wife, Mary of Beetown; step-daughter Sharon Erickson of Potosi; step-son-in-law Ken Carlson of Beetown, WI; step-granddaughter Nova Emmel, her children Carly and Allison Emmel of Beetown WI; step-grandson Sam (Korey) Carlson and their daughter Alalynn of Neenah WI. ; favorite nephew Alan (Lynette) Ramos of Wasilla, Alaska and their son Lincoln.

He was preceded in death by his parents Matt and Mayme (Lantto) Kotila and sister Shirley Kotila.

Mary M. Kotila

Mary M. Kotila, age 86, of Lancaster, formerly of Beetown, passed away on Sunday, September 7, 2014, at Grant Regional Health Center in Lancaster. She was born on September 30, 1927, in Mohawk, MI, the daughter of Gus and Esther (Kero) Simila.

Mary was a loving mother who cared deeply about her family and greeted everyone with a smile and a twinkle in her eyes. She kept up with her longtime friends though letter writing. Mary was a devoted member of the Beetown United Methodist Church.

Survivors include her daughter, Sharon Erickson; son-in-law, Kenny Carlson; a granddaughter, Nova Emmel and her daughters, Carly and Allison Emmel; a grandson, Sam (Kory) Carlson, and their daughter, Aralyn; a sister, Mayme Jurmu; and nieces and nephews.

Mary was preceded in death by her husbands, Earl Erickson and LeRoy Kotila; a daughter, Beverly Carlson; and her siblings: Esther, Martha, Arthur, Edwin, Charlie, Uno, Oiva, and Eino.

Joseph F. Kozelka

Joseph F. Kozelka, age 68, of Bloomington, died Thursday, November 20, 2008 at UW Hospital in Madison. He was born on September 14, 1940 in Crawford County, the son of Frank and Maxine (Johnson) Kozelka. Joseph was united in marriage to Sandra M. Karau on July 3, 1970 in Merrill, WI.

He worked at National Decorated Metal in Prairie du Chien and also for Fuller Logging until health issues required him to retire. Joseph was a member of St. Gabriels Catholic Church in Prairie du Chien. He was an avid outdoorsman and especially enjoyed hunting and fishing. Joseph also loved his family dearly.

Joseph is survived by two daughters: Debie (Eric) Knapp, Bloomington and Denise Kozelka, McGregor, IA; three grandchildren: Telishia, Mariah and Eithan; his wife, Sandra Kozelka, Prairie du Chien; three brothers: John (Rosemary) Kozelka, Sparta, Mike (Kris) Kozelka, Prairie du Chien and Frank (Jerri) Kozelka, Trempealeau; two sisters: Shirley (Harold) Berberich, Onalaska and Sharon (Steve) Schriener, Eastman; many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents; a brother-in-law, Robert Fisher and an infant niece.

Neal K. Kramer

Neal K. Kramer, 79, of Potosi, died Saturday, Nov. 8, 2008, at Tampa (Fla.) General Hospital, after a short and sudden illness. In keeping with Neal's wishes, a private family service will be held at a later date. The Martin Schwartz Funeral Home, Potosi, is in charge of arrangements. He was born on Dec. 22, 1928, in Prairie du Chien, son of Florence and Anna (Pintz) Kramer. He married Joyce M. Pettera on Feb. 18, 1950, at St. John's Catholic Church, Prairie du Chien; she preceded him in death in 2005. He missed her every day of his remaining years. He spent more than 17 years with the Burlington Northern Railroad before joining John Deere Dubuque Works. He retired from John Deere in 1992, after 26 years of service. Neal had many interests, but especially loved traveling, golfing, playing cards, feeding the ducks and fish and telling stories. His time spent in Florida socializing with his dear friends and family made his last years fun and memorable. Surviving are his three daughters, Cynthia (Doug) Leibfried, of Hazel Green, Debra (Gary) Droessler, of Potosi, and Lori (Mark) Stewart, of Dubuque; a son, Rick (Dianne) Kramer, of Hayward; 12 grandchildren; 12 stepgrandchildren; six great-grandchildren and two on the way; 12 stepgreat-grandchildren and one on the way; and a stepgreat-great grandson. He also was preceded in death by a son, Terry Kramer; his mother, Anna (Pintz) Kramer; his father, Florence Kramer; two brothers, Franklin Kramer and Eldon Kramer; three sisters, Emma Wiess, Ila Gentes and Ellen (Honey) Walker; and his daughter-in-law, Linda Kramer.

A Neal K. Kramer Memorial Fund has been established.

The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to Dad's Florida friends and family, especially his niece, Nancy Wischmeyer, for all the love, support and friendship they gave to Mom and Dad through the years.

Joanne E. Krantz

Joanne E. Krantz, age 65, of Cassville, died on Saturday, December 11, 2010, in Cassville. She was born on June 11, 1945, in Prairie du Chien, the daughter of Arthur and Hilda (Welchert) Krantz. Joanne graduated from Bloomington High School in 1963. She was then employed by Attorney Bob Merfeld for many years. Joanne later worked for Marquette Transportation. Most recently, she was employed with Badger State Bank in Cassville where she just retired. Joanne enjoyed playing cards, especially Rummy. She was a member of St. Charles Catholic Church in Cassville.

Survivors include her sister, Janis (Bill) White, Clinton, IA; her brother, Joe Krantz, Mt. Horeb; lifelong friend, John Brinkmann, Cassville; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Joanne was preceded in death by a sister, Joyce Brandt and a brother, John Krantz.

Vernon Krantz

Vernon J. Krantz, age 78, passed away Tuesday, March 29, 2016, at Southwest Health Center in Platteville. He was born November 13, 1937 the son of Lloyd and Leatha (Johll) Krantz. Vernon graduated from Bloomington High School In 1955. He was united into marriage to Lois C. Walz on November 5, 1959 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Glen Haven. Vernon was employed at the Bloomington Feed Mill, and later he and Lois moved to Beetown and managed the General Store. They moved to Lancaster, and Vernon was employed as a cheese maker at Wisconsin Dairies until his retirement in 1992. He enjoyed wood working and rug weaving. He dearly loved his wife Lois, and their family.

Surviving is his loving wife Lois; a daughter, Marge (Bill) Gantenbein, five sons, Paul (Joan), Roger (Nancy), Bill (Deb), Mike, and Patrick Krantz; a daughter in law, Mikey (Todd) Clanton, 18 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren, his sister Virginia Walz and a brother Fred Krantz, many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Vernon was preceded in death by his son Gary, a grandson Matthew, a granddaughter Sandra, and many members of the Krantz and Walz family.

Isabelle C. Kreiser

Isabelle C. Kreiser, age 98, of Lancaster, died on Saturday, January 23, 2010, at the Lancaster Care Center, Lancaster. She was born on November 26, 1911, in Potosi, the daughter of Charles and Mary (Miller) Pitzen. Isabelle attended school at Ss. Andrew-Thomas in Potosi. On September 11, 1934, she was united in marriage to Frederick H. Ted Kreiser at St. Andrews Catholic Church in Tennyson. After their marriage, the couple farmed near Potosi. They moved to Lancaster where Isabelle was employed with the Terwilliger family for over fifty years. She enjoyed gardening and spending time with her family, community, and church. Isabelle was a member of St. Clement Catholic Church and was very strong in her faith.

Survivors include her children: Merlin (Elizabeth) Kreiser, Winston Salem, NC; Ruth Ann (Kenneth) Runde, Platteville; four grandchildren: Merlin (Claire) Kreiser, Jr., Sharon (Rick) Long; Philip (Monica) Kreiser; and Steven (Jennifer) Uppena; three great-grandchildren: Amanda Uppena, Jordan Kreiser and Jonathon Kreiser; her sisters: Dolores (Marcus) Laufenberg, Cassville; Dorothy (Norbert) Burggraf, Cave Creek, AZ; Lucille Edge, Superior; other relatives and many friends.

In addition to her parents, Isabelle was preceded in death by her husband, Frederick on February 6, 1966; her siblings: Mildred (Lester) Reuter, Esther (John) Adams, Leo (Bernice) Pitzen, Marie (Tony) Udelhoven, Frederick (Marion) Pitzen, Edward (Margaret) Pitzen, Donald (Mildred) Pitzen, Gladys Pitzen, Herold Pitzen, and Florence (Louis) Leibfried.

John Kremer

John A. Kremer, Jr., age 91, of Cassville, passed away on Tuesday, November 10, 2015, at Grant Regional Health Center in Lancaster. He was born on April 8, 1924, in Crawford County, WI, the son of John A. and Susan (Sprank) Kremer. On June 5, 1946, John was united in marriage to Dolores Gengler at St. Clement Catholic Church in Lancaster. After their marriage, the couple farmed and later hauled milk. In 1965, the family moved into Cassville where John was employed with Metcalfe-Kuenster Funeral Home. He also did carpentry work until they purchased the Anker Inn. John was the best bartender in town. He was a member of the 3^rd and 4^th Degree Knights of Columbus. John enjoyed laughter and being with his loving wife and family and friends.

Survivors include his loving wife, Dolores Kremer; their sons: Gordon (Susan) Kremer; Joe (Sue) Kremer; grandchildren: Kristy (Shawn) Stoney and Jodi (Nick) Cooper; great-grandchildren: Jacob and Ryan Stoney and Abi Jo Cooper.

In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by five loving sisters and his cat, Boots.

Ralph Krepfle

Ralph Roy Krepfle, 90, of Weatherly, PA passed away Wednesday, March 30, 2016, at Heritage Hills, Weatherly, PA.

Widower of Alma A (Kerkenbush) Krepfle, ''his one and only'', who passed away on February 15, 2015, after nearly 67 years of marriage and raising 8 children in Potosi, WI. Ralph is survived by Sons: Keith Krepfle (fiancee Michelle Darcey) Drums, PA; Michael Krepfle Madison, WI and Robert (Stacy) Krepfle Lakeville, MN. Daughters: Kay (Roger) Leitzen Milaca, MN; Ann (Dr. Terry) Boyle Potosi, WI; Patricia (Brad) Reuter Potosi, WI and Pamela (Tim) Burling Verona, WI. Many grandchildren and great-grandchildren also survive him.

Ralph worked as a financial planner for IDS and was awarded top representative for several years. He worked at John Deere, Inc., Dubuque, IA. Ralph also managed for 25 years at Keehner Farm Implement, Potosi, WI. He said it was satisfying to help the hardworking local farmers stay productive. He then worked for Pioneer Motors, Inc., Lancaster, WI. When living in Potosi, Ralph was active at St. Thomas Catholic Church as an usher, cemetery committee, Parish Council and numerous other committees. He was also active on various positions with the Village of Potosi Board. He took pride in his Church and community services. In his youth, Ralph played Major League baseball with the Chicago Cub's affiliate. He pitched semi-pro fast pitch for many years. He also officiated and umpired more games than can be counted. Ralph very much enjoyed golfing at Lancaster Country Club and many other courses country wide with family and various friends. Ralph supported his children in their sports from amateur to the professional levels.

Born April 30, 1925, in Elkport, IA, son of the late Joseph and Pearl (Harbaugh) Krepfle. Predeceased by his brother, Richard Krepfle, a sister, Mary Alice Krepfle, a son, Raymond in 2013 and step-grandson, Matthew Boyle.

A Mass of Christian Burial was at St. Andrew Catholic Church, Tennyson, WI on Friday, June 10, 2016, at 11:00 a.m. with Father Richard Leffler officiating. Helen Kress

Helen McKickan Kress, age 95, passed away on Friday, May 13, 2010 at the Lancaster Care Center in Lancaster . She was born on November 17, 1914 in Mount Hope , the daughter of Ernest and Bertilla Berd (Thompson) McKichan. Helen was married to Donald Kress on April 7, 1934 in Galena , IL .

Helen and her husband, Donald, enjoyed traveling the United States . She also enjoyed reading, doing crossword puzzles, knitting afghans, cooking, baking and visiting with family and friends. Helen also liked driving her car.

After retiring from Walgreens in Calumet City , she made her home with her sister, Maxine Bauer in Mount Hope .

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; brothers, Goodsell and Max; sisters, Maxine Bauer, Carol Stenner and Dorothy Bollard.

Helen is survived by a sister-in-law, Henrietta McKichan, several nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, and very special friends, Annette and Gregg Hanson and their sons, Zander and Dane.

Donna was born on November 19, 1930 to Alfred & Josephine (Moyer) Roth and was one of seven children. Donna married the love of her life Maynard A. Kress on February 21, 1954. Donna was preceded in death by her parents, siblings, and beloved husband of 42 years.

Donna was a member of the V.F.W. Women's Auxiliary and fulfilled her life with the love of dancing, gambling, a good game of cards, a cold beer, and a cigarette in her hand. She was a very loving woman, with spunk and character, the queen of old sayings and storytelling, and loved being around her family and friends.

Donna leaves her loving memories to be cherished by her three boys, Robert (Sandra), William (Linda), and Raymond (Lisa); nine grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; one great-great grandson, and many nieces, nephews.

Donna touched the lives of many with her sense of humor and spunk all the way to the end.

Jacoba Kritzinger

Jacoba Kritzinger, age 56, of Lancaster, died Thursday, May 19, 2016 at her home under the care of Home Health United Hospice. Jacoba was born on January 20, 1960 in Port Elizabeth, South Africa, the daughter of Daniel & Aletta (Olivier) Kritzinger.

Jacoba attended Joubertina High School and graduated from Charlie Cribb College in Port Elizabeth with her Midwife RN. She married Jan Pierre Lourens in 1983. In 2000 the family moved to the United States and finally settled in Lancaster. She divorced in 2007.

Jacoba worked tirelessly to provide for her children and continued a life of sacrifice until her death.

Jacoba is survived by her children, Su-Alette (Gereld) Moore, Juanna (Cole Miller) Lourens, and Jaun-Pierre Lourens; three grandsons, Brady James Moore, Cooper Alan Moore, and Declan Thomas Miller; a sister, Margaretha (Hennie) Zwiegers; and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Funeral Services were held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 25, 2016 at the First Presbyterian Church in Lancaster, with Pastor Mark Hoehne officiating. Ernest E. Krogman

Ernest E. Krogman, age 84, of Lancaster, passed away peacefully after a brief illness on Wednesday, August 26, 2009, at the Grant Regional Health Center, Lancaster. Ernie was born on May 12, 1925, in the town of Bloomington, the son of Herman and Julia (Trumm) Krogman. He graduated from Bloomington High School in 1943. Upon graduation, he served in the Army Air Corps as a ball turret gunner on a B-17 Bomber. After spending two and a half years in the South Pacific, he was honorably discharged in 1946. In 1946, he began his college education at the Wisconsin Mining School and finished with a degree in secondary education from UW-Platteville. Later, he received a Masters in Administration from UW-Milwaukee. While attending college, he met his beloved wife, Jean Marquardt. They were united in marriage on November 24, 1949, in Cross Plains. His teaching and coaching career began at Cazenovia High School in 1950 and continued at Weston High School until 1962. Ernie and his family then moved to South Milwaukee where he coached and taught at Saint Francis High School from 1962 until 1966. In 1966, he became principal of Lancaster High School until his retirement in 1990.

Ernie was an avid Badger, Pioneer and Packer fan, a member of the Richard Burns American Legion Post No. 109 and the William Pollock VFW Post No. 2344, and long time parishioner of St. Clement Catholic Church in Lancaster. For years, he enjoyed staying at his Burr Oaks cabin and fishing on the Mississippi River. As a successful baseball coach, one of Ernies proudest moments was being inducted in 2006 into the Wisconsin Baseball Coaches Association Hall of Fame, where he humbly accepted this honor in front of many family members and former players.

Survivors include his loving wife of almost 60 years, Jean Krogman, Lancaster; five children: Patti (Tom) Schroeder, Cadott; John (Angie) Krogman, Madison; Joan (Rick) Zahalka, Marshfield; Jim (Robyn) Krogman, Brookfield; Kris (Bob) Petrowitz, Lancaster; fifteen wonderful grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one sister: Norma Andrews, New Berlin; four brothers: Jim Krogman, Cassville; Paul (Nelda) Krogman, Bloomington; Tom (Evie) Krogman, Bloomington; Fr. Phil Krogman, Green Lake; along with many caring nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Ernie was preceded in death by sisters-in-law, Mary Krogman and Delores Hodgson; brothers-in-law, Carl Andrews and Russell Marquardt.

Funeral services were held on Monday, August 31, 2009, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Clement Catholic Church in Lancaster with Father Philip Krogman and Father Bart Timmerman officiating. James Krogman

James John "Jim" Krogman, age 94 of Cassville, passed away on Friday May 20, 2016, surrounded by his loving family, at the home of his daughter Laurie (Jim) Koopman. He was born on March 4, 1922 in Bloomington Township, the eldest son of Herman and Julia (Trumm) Krogman. Jim graduated from St. Mary's Grade School in Bloomington, and from Bloomington High School. On September 21, 1942 Jim enlisted in the United States Army to serve his country during World War II. His foreign tour of duty took him to Casablanca and Algiers in North Africa, as well as the invasions at Salerno and Anzio in Italy, and the Battle of the Bulge in Bastogne. On November 17, 1951 he was united into marriage to Mary Margaret Hampton at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Bloomington. Jim considered this union to be the wisest decision of his life. They made their home in Bloomington, and were members of St. Mary's Catholic Church. He enjoyed his 63 year career in banking. Jim worked for 23 years at Bloomington State Bank. In 1970 Jim and Mary moved to Cassville, where Jim worked for 40 years at Badger State Bank. He was a graduate of the University of Wisconsin School of Banking, and served on various state and county banking committees. Jim was a member of the Abraham Hickok Wetmore American Legion Post #148 in Bloomington, as was his father before him, as Herman had served in the United States Army during World War I. He was also a member of the Mumm Welsh American Legion Post #352, VFW Post #7080 and St Charles Catholic Church in Cassville. Family was Jim's greatest pride and joy.

Jim dearly loved his wife Mary, and during their 53 years of marriage, they were blessed with four daughters: Laurie (Jim) Koopman, Julie (Steve) Uppena, Amy (Louie) Okey, and Janet (Dan) Jansen; 13 grandchildren, and 26 great grandchildren. Jim is also survived by his three brothers; Paul (Nelda), Tom (Evie), and Fr. Phil Krogman, a sister in law Jean Krogman, nieces, nephews, and members of the Hampton family.

In addition to his parents Herman and Julia, Jim was preceded in death by his beloved wife Mary, his brother Ernest "Ernie" and his sister Norma (Carl) Andrews.

Funeral services were held on Friday, May 27, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Charles Catholic Church in Cassville, with Fr. John Meinholz, Fr. Phil Krogman and Fr. William Seipp officiating. Burial with military honors was held in St. Charles Cemetery. Carol A. Krohn

Carol A. Krohn, age 61 of Lancaster, died peacefully in her sleep on Friday January 9, 2009 at home.

She was born on July 22^nd 1947 in Lancaster, the daughter of Carson and Jeanette (Turner) Roesch. Carol graduated from Lancaster Senior High School. Carol married Maurice Krohn on February 19^th 1966, at the Davies Memorial United Church of Christ in Potosi. Carol was self employed at home as a dog groomer. She also worked part time for Lancaster Community School District.

Her love of dogs led her to a nationally respected reputation as a Welsh Springer Spaniel Breeder. She was co founder of Tydaky Welsh Springer Spaniels. Her breeding program produced the number one owner- handled Welsh Springer Spaniel in the Nation in the 1980s. She strived for perfection and excellence in her breeding program, which she achieved by receiving the Tomjoy Breeder of the Year Award. She was currently the Heartland Welsh Springer Spaniel Club President. She had served as the president of the national Welsh Springer Spaniel Club. Carol and Maury were active in developing interest in dog showing and guiding many children in the county in developing skills in dog handling by being 4-H leaders for the Grant County dog project.

Carol is survived by 3 children and seven grandchildren, Tim (Stacey) and Sarah Krohn of Stratford, Deanna (Blake) and Ty Schuebel and Justin and Marissa Wiederholt of Shawano, and Jennifer (Steve) and Morgan, Mitchel, and Carson Clark of Roberts, her mother Jeanette Roesch, her siblings Karen (Rick) Schwantes, Kevin (Mary Jo) Roesch all of Lancaster, Jannan (Steve) Prestegard of Ripon, numerous nieces and nephews, several special friends she considered family, and her beloved dogs.

Carol was preceded in death by her husband Maurice, her father Carson, her grandmother, Myrtle (Floyd) Roesch, and her mother and father-in-law, Mildred (Edwin) Krohn.

Funeral services were held on Wednesday, January 14, 2009, at 10:30 a.m. at the Lancaster Congregational Church with Rev. Mark Dieter officiating. Burial was at a later date. Friends called on Tuesday, January 13, 2009, at the Lancaster Congregational Church from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Wednesday from 9:30 a.m. until time of services. Marcus E. Krohn

Marcus E. Krohn, age 73, of Lancaster, died on Wednesday, October 26, 2011, at the UW Hospital in Madison. He was born on April 28, 1938, in Lancaster, the son of Edwin and Mildred (Schneider) Krohn. Marcus graduated from Lancaster High School in 1956 and later graduated from University of Wisconsin at Platteville in 1962. On June 2, 1962, Marcus was united in marriage to Barbara J. Meyers at St. Charles Catholic Church inCassville. Together they farmed on the Krohn family farm, which has been in the Krohn family for over one hundred years. He was a member of the Lancaster FFA Alumni, the Shriners and St. Clement Catholic Church. Marcus loved spending time on the farm, being outdoors with his dog, Radar, and cat, Rahja.

Survivors include his wife, Barb Krohn, Lancaster; his daughters: Shari Nitzsche and Nancy (Eric) Steinhoff, of Mt. Horeb; Jackie Krohn, Madison; his grandchildren: Lyndsey Nitzsche, Logan, Miles, and Ethan Steinhoff; an aunt, Doris Schneider, Fennimore; a brother-in-law, Stanley (Barb) Meyers, Phillips; a sister-in-law, Mary Alice (Milo) Crubel, Bloomington; many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Marcus was preceded in death by his brother, Maurice (Carol) Krohn, an uncle, Earl Schneider and an aunt, Alice (Carl) Doeringsfeld.

Richard W. Krohn

Richard Dick W. Krohn, 76, of Beetown, WI, died Monday, June 13, 2011, at Grant Regional Health Center in Lancaster. Richard was born on August 24, 1934, in Beetown Township, a son of Herbert & Bernice (Peake) Krohn.

Dick graduated from Lancaster High School in 1952. He was united in marriage to Ellen Blackbourn on June 23, 1954. He then served in the U.S. Army from 1957 to 1959.

Richard was a licensed cheese and butter maker employed by Hallingstad Creamery, Schurmans Butter and Cheese, Wisconsin Dairies, and was a supervisor at Foremost Farms until his retirement.

Dick is survived by his wife, Ellen; two daughters, Lori (Lewy) Budworth & Paula (Don) Pulvermacher; two grandchildren, Tara & Adam Richard Pulvermacher; and his special black lab, Codi.

A funeral service was held at 10:30 am on Friday, June 17, 2011, at Martin Funeral Home, 111 S. Tyler St., Lancaster, with James Frazier officiating. Burial was in Dodge Cemetery, Beetown Township. Visitation was held from 4 to 7 pm on Thursday, June 16, at Martin Funeral Home, and one hour prior to the service Friday.

Ruth E. Krohn

Ruth E. Krohn, age 82, of Bloomington, died on Saturday, October 13, 2012, at the Lancaster Care Center. She was born on August 24, 1930, in Little Grant Township, the daughter of Ellsworth and Elva (Bishell) Landon. Ruth graduated from Lancaster High School in 1948. On February 20, 1950, she was united in marriage to Gerald Krohn at the Lancaster United Methodist Parsonage. After their marriage, the couple traveled while Gerald served his country in the United States Army. Following Geralds honorable discharge, the couple returned to Beetown where they farmed and together raised three daughters.

Survivors include her loving husband, Gerald; their three daughters: Vickie Krohn; Kathy (Rod) Schramm, all of Lancaster; Shari (Todd) Hammen, Combined Locks; three grandchildren: Shelby Schramm, Trevor and Troy Hammen; her brothers and sisters: Maurice Landon; Irene (John) Seippel; Phyllis (Gene) Klaas, all of Lancaster; Leo (Clara) Landon, Cassville; Cecil (Janice) Landon, Lancaster; her sister-in-law, Ruby Landon, Lancaster; other loving relatives and many friends.

In addition to her parents, Ruth was preceded in death by a brother, Virgil Landon and a sister-in-law, Charlotte Landon.

Stanley E. Krohn

Stanley E. Krohn, age 70, of Beetown, died Tuesday, May 27, 2008 at Grant Regional Health Center in Lancaster. He was born March 19, 1938 in Beetown, the son of Herbert and Bernice (Peake) Krohn. He was a 1956 graduate of Lancaster High School and enlisting in the U.S. Army, serving from 1961 1963. On November 20, 1965, he married Evelyn Hampton at St. Marys Catholic Church in Glen Haven. Stanley was employed with the City of Lancaster and the Grant County Highway Department, retiring in April of 2000. He enjoyed gardening, baking apple pies, playing cards, and fishing. Most of all, he loved spending time with his grandchildren.

Stanley is survived by his wife, Evelyn Krohn, Beetown; four children: Shelly (Ted Grimes) Nix, Platteville; Scott (Kari) Krohn, Lancaster; Mike Krohn, Lancaster; and Emily Bockhop, Belmont; four grandchildren: Shannon Benson, Bloomington; Tyler Krohn, Lancaster; and Ivy and Zak Bockhop, both of Belmont; one great-grandchild, Lucas Benson, Bloomington; two brothers: Richard (Ellen) Krohn, Beetown; and Mark (Cathy) Krohn, Cassville; a sister-in-law, Violet Krohn, of Missouri; and one nephew and many nieces.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers, Robert and Daryl Krohn, and his sisters, Marita Dilworth and Marsha Esser.

Herman J. Kruse

Herman J. Kruse, age 82, of Bloomington, died on Thursday, November 13, 2008, at Prairie du Chien Memorial Hospital in Prairie du Chien. He was born on January 16, 1926, in Dyersville, IA, the son of John and Eva (Coyle) Kruse. Herman enlisted in the United States Army and served his country during World War II. On February 1, 1958, he was united in marriage to Audrey Webb at St. Clement Catholic Church rectory in Lancaster. He was employed by Earl Macke for many years and then he owned and operated Z&K Implement in Bloomington with Bob Zenz. Later, Herman was employed with the Grant County Highway Department as a mechanic, retiring on April 27, 1990, after being employed there for eighteen years. He enjoyed fishing and hunting squirrels. Herman was a member of the Abraham Hickok Wetmore American Legion Post No. 148 of Bloomington and St. Marys Catholic Church.

Survivors include his wife, Audrey Kruse, Bloomington; a sister-in-law, Hannah Marie (Calvin) Horsfall, Bloomington; brother-in-law, Tom Webb, Jr., Lancaster; and many nieces and nephews.

Herman was preceded in death by his parents.

Jane K. Kruser

Jane K. Kruser, age 72, of Potosi, passed away on Wednesday, March 26, 2014, at ManorCare in Dubuque, IA. She was born on August 9, 1941, in Racine, the daughter of Benjamin and Beulah (Lueke) Hader. Jane graduated from Park High School in 1959. She then worked at Racine Steel Casting. On April 15, 1967, Jane was united in marriage to Mert Kruser. In 1969, they moved to Potosi. Jane raised her family and was employed as a cashier at IOCO Speede Shoppe from 1989 until her retirement in 2004. Jane enjoyed her time at Bagley, fishing, collecting jewelry and stained glass lamps. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family and friends.

Survivors include her loving husband, Mert Kruser; their children: Kathy (Vaughn) White; Debbie (Tim) Wagner; Julie (Joe) Kennicker; six grandchildren: Kaitlyn and Alyssa White; Trevor and Rachel Wagner; Paige and Lydia Kennicker; other relatives and many friends, including Bagley friends.

In addition to her parents, Jane was preceded in death by a sister, Donna (Bill) Heusdens, and a nephew, Marc Heusdens.

Velma C. Kruser

Velma C. Kruser, age 77, of Potosi, found eternal peace on Saturday, July 11, 2009 at her home where she had made so many precious memories.

Services were held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 15, 2009 at St. Andrew Catholic Church in Tennyson with the Reverend Bernard Rott officiating. Her final resting place was at St. Thomas Cemetery, Potosi. Friends called from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 14 at Martin Funeral Home in Potosi where there was a parish prayer service at 4:00 p.m.

She was born on November 26, 1931 in Paris Township, daughter of John and Rose (Hufnagel) Leibfried. On February 14, 1950, she married her valentine, Edward F. Kruser at St. Andrew Catholic Church in Tennyson.

Velmas life was centered around her family. Many days you could find her in her kitchen baking cookies or playing games with the kids. On those rare occasions when there were no kids around, Velma enjoyed her quiet time reading Harlequin romance novels. She was also the family genealogist and spent much time creating and then continually updating family history books.

She was a lifetime member of St. Andrew-Thomas Parish, active in the Altar Society and volunteering at funeral dinners.

Surviving are her husband of nearly 60 years, Eddie, Potosi; four sons: Dale (Teresa), Joe (Patti), Jeff (JoAnn) all of Potosi and Dennis (Marla), Cassville; six daughters: Deanne, LaCrosse, Shirley (Dan) Heger, Pewaukee, Lois (Rod) Molyneau, Houston, TX, Beth (Jason) Brinkman, Potosi, Jill (Jeff) Miller, Waverly, GA and Aimee (Steve) Lochowitz, Tucson, AZ; two sisters, Frances Kieler, Cuba City and Ann Langkamp, West Lafayette, IN; her godmother, Aunt Vernetta Hohnecker, Dubuque, IA; grandchildren and step-grandchildren: Tom, Lance, Clint, Tess, Cassidy, Betsy, Megan, Paige, Jared, Jarika, Justina, Jenna, Maddi, Bailey, Chloe, Zachary, Alison, Samantha, Dakota, Audrie, Jeffrey and Sammie; great-grandchildren: Chloe, Cullen, Sydney, Maizey, Zalia, Mia, Evan, Logan and Braydon.

Velma will now be reunited with her son, Ed Jr.; her parents, John and Mary Leibfried; her brothers, James, Louis, Bernard; and sisters, Mary, Inez and Doris.

Betty J. Kuenster

Betty J. Kuenster, age 87, of Lancaster, died on Monday, April 16, 2012, at Grant Regional Health Center in Lancaster. She was born on December 16, 1924, in Lancaster, the daughter of Frank and Sylvia (Kruel) Lacke. Betty graduated from Lancaster High School in 1941. On August 5, 1944, she was united in marriage to Julius Doc Kuenster at St. Clement Catholic Church in Lancaster. After their marriage, the couple raised a family and owned and operated a veterinarian clinic in Lancaster. They also raised Brussels Griffon puppies. Betty was very active in the church. In 1966, she and Helen Droessler were instrumental in establishing the food service at St. Clement Catholic Church. In 1971, Betty and Doc moved to Cassville to their home on the river. In 1990, the couple returned to Lancaster. Betty enjoyed playing cards and was a member of the Jolly Dollies. She was a member of St. Clement and St. Charles Catholic Churches. Betty loved to cook and enjoyed hosting wedding receptions at the Sand Bar for several years.

Survivors include her children: Mary Ann Myers, Lancaster; Kristin (Ronald) Infield, Cassville; Margaret Bublitz, Lancaster; and Jerry Kulas, Kim Gibson, Kathryn, Karla and Julie Kuenster; 18 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren; three sisters: Dolores Ralph, Patricia (Ed) Steinhoff, and Roselynn Kedding; other relatives and many friends.

In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her husband in 1998 and a son-in-law, Roger Myers.

David Kujawa

David J. Kujawa, age 76, of Lancaster, died at his home on March 24, 2015.

David was born on July 30, 1938 to John and Beatrice (Cox) Kujawa. He attended grade school in Fennimore and graduated in 1956 from Lancaster High School. He married Marian Charleen Near; they later divorced. He worked with his dad at Grantland Creamery several years. After that he worked for the Grant County Sheriffs Department, owned and operated a milk route, and drove long haul truck for 35 years before retiring.

He is survived by one daughter, Kay Kujawa of Sioux Falls, SD; one son, Kevin (Jennifer) Kujawa of Greenwood, WI; granddaughters, Courtney (Benjamin) Olivier, Christine (Nathan) Schilling, and Kasey Fischer; great grandchildren, Rylan, Carter, Lennyn, Amelia and Molly. He is further survived by a sister, Carolyn Sue Jones, and a brother, Greg Kujawa.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter, Kim Kujawa; and sisters, Eleanor Rewey and Jane Bernhardt.

Irene M. Kuntz

Irene M. Kuntz, age 98, of Cassville, died on Monday, August 25, 2008, at Orchard Manor Nursing Home, Lancaster. She was born on July 20, 1910, in Cassville, the daughter of Emil and Lousia (Lorscheter) Grattan. Irene attended school at the Groom School and St. Charles Catholic School. She graduated from Cassville High School in 1927 and then attended Madison College. Irene was united in marriage to Richard Kuntz. She was employed at the Motor Vehicle Department for several years, Pure Oil for a year and for thirty-seven years, she was employed at the State Commissioner of Insurance Office. While Irene lived in Madison, she had forty-nine people, students and workers, who enjoyed a home away from home. She was a member of the Gold Star Mother of Dane County, the VFW Auxiliary, the American Legion Auxiliary, the NCCW, and St. Charles Catholic Church in Cassville.

Survivors include her sister: Margaret Grattan, Lancaster and many cousins and friends.

Irene was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Richard, her son, Russell and her brother, Tom Grattan.

Funeral services were held on Thursday, August 28, 2008, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Charles Catholic Church in Cassville with Father John Norder and Father William Seipp officiating. Burial was in Cassville Cemetery, Cassville. Friends called on Thursday, August 28, 2008, from 9:00 a.m. until time of services at the church. In lieu of plants and flowers, the family requests memorials to be given to the Cassville Rescue Squad, the Cassville Fire Department, and the St. Charles Endowment Fund.

Allen Kussmaul

Allen Kussmaul, age 98, of Mount Hope, died Wednesday, January 16, 2013. He was born on February 25, 1914, in Eastman, WI, the son of Rudolph, Sr. and Emma (Allen) Kussmaul. On January 1, 1939, he was united in marriage to Dorris L. Lintner in Dubuque, IA. They were married 58 years until Dorriss death in 1997. Al and his brother, Rud, built up a seed corn business in Mount Hope, Kussmaul Hybrids Seed Corn.

His favorite past time was working. For the past 26 winters, Al made Pine Island, Florida his home. He was a very avid gardener. He enjoyed fishing, traveling, shooting pool, playing cards, and watching baseball and football. Al also had a book published at age 95, based on the diary of his travels at age seventeen. The book is Life on the Bum in the Early 1930s.

Al is survived by his daughters: Connie (Paul) Klinkhammer, Mount Hope, and Flynt Kussmaul, Sarasota, Florida; four grandchildren: Stacey Martin, Bloomington; Andrew Lucas, Mt. Hope; Seth Kussmaul, Madison; and Ryan (Megan) Kussmaul, Patch Grove; and six great-grandchildren: Jake, Katie, Destoni and Andrea Martin, Kalyssa (Joe) Walsh, and Mason Kussmaul; and one great-great-grandson, Bentley; and special friend, Jean.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorris; his parents; his daughter, Susan Moravits; his son, Timothy Kussmaul; and his two brothers, Glenn and Rud.

Funeral Services were held at 10:30 am on Tuesday, February 5, 2013, at Martin Funeral Home in Bloomington, with Rev. Mary Ann Floerke officiating. Burial will be in Hermitage Cemetery, Mount Hope. Friends called from 4 to 8 pm on Monday, February, 4, 2013, at Martin Funeral Home in Bloomington and one hour prior to the service at the funeral on Tuesday.

Grace E. Kussmaul

Grace E. Kussmaul, age 89, of Prairie du Chien, formerly of Mount Hope, died Thursday, July 10, 2008 at Prairie Maison in Prairie du Chien. She was born on July 12, 1918 in Lancaster, WI, the daughter of Ora and Celia (Groenier) Stitzer. Grace attended Lancaster High School and graduated in 1936 as salutatorian. She then entered the Methodist Hospital nursing program in Madison and became a registered nurse. On September 15, 1940, she married Rudolph Rud Kussmaul in Dubuque, IA. Rud and his brother, Al, built up a seed corn business in Mount Hope Kussmaul Hybrid Seed Corn. Grace was actively involved in the business. She handled the bookkeeping and took care of farm crews. In 1981, they sold their business to Dairyland Seed Co. Grace and Rud then spent their winters in Florida. Together they enjoyed traveling, golfing, and boating. Grace was an active member of the Mount Hope Methodist Church for 65 years. She sang in the choir and served as a church organist. Grace was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother.

She is survived by her husband, Rud Kussmaul of Prairie du Chien, formerly of Mount Hope; three children: Jack Kussmaul, Millville; Kay (Joe) Schmitz, Mount Hope; and Jean (Joe) Bula, Prairie du Chien; four grandchildren: Jill (Brian) Cipra, Prairie du Chien; Randy (Nancy) Schmitz, Greensboro, NC; Josh Bula, Tallahassee, FL; and Brittany (Brady) Frederick, Whitewater; and one great-grandson, Charlie Schmitz.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, John Stitzer

Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, July 14, 2008 at the Mount Hope Methodist Church in Mount Hope with Reverend Mary Ann Floerke officiating. Burial was in Hermitage Cemetery, Mount Hope Township. Visitation was held on Sunday, July 13, 2008 from 4:00 7:00 p.m. at the Martin Funeral Home in Bloomington. Friends also called at the church on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services.

Rudolph W. Kussmaul

Rudolph W. Rud Kussmaul, age 97, of Prairie du Chien, formerly of Mount Hope, died Sunday, January 31, 2010, at Prairie Maison in Prairie du Chien. He was born on August 29, 1912, in Eastman, WI, the son of Rud, Sr. and Emma (Allen) Kussmaul. Rud graduated from Mount Hope High School. On September 15, 1940, he married Grace E. Stitzer in Dubuque, IA. They were married 67 years until Graces death in 2008. Rud and his brother, Al, built up a seed corn business in Mount Hope Kussmaul Hybrid Seed Corn. In 1981, they sold the business to Dairyland Seed Co. After retirement, he purchased a small orange grove in Arcadia, FL which occupied his time all winter. Rud was always an avid saltwater fisherman. He also took up golf at the age of 70 and played regularly for many years. When he was no longer able to farm or raise oranges, Rud enjoyed his flower garden at home. He was a generous contributor to community needs and to individuals.

Rud is survived by three children: Jack Kussmaul, Millville; Kay (Joe) Schmitz, Mount Hope; and Jean (Joe) Bula, Prairie du Chien; four grandchildren: Jill (Brian) Cipra, Prairie du Chien; Randy (Nancy Stoudmire) Schmitz, Greensboro, NC; Josh Bula, Tallahassee, FL; and Brittany (Brady) Frederick, Whitewater; and three great-grandchildren: Charlie and Katie Schmitz and Kaia Frederick; one brother, Allen Kussmaul, Mount Hope; several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Grace; his parents and his brother, Glenn.

Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, February 4, 2010 at the Mount Hope Methodist Church in Mount Hope with Reverend Mary Ann Floerke officiating. Burial was in Hermitage Cemetery, Mount Hope Township. Visitation was held on Wednesday, February 3, 2010 from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Martin Funeral Home in Bloomington. Friends also called at the church on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services.

Kathryn Kuster

Kathryn M. Kuster, age 98, a lifelong Potosi resident, died Tuesday, August 2, 2016, at Atrium Post Acute Care in Lancaster, under the care of St. Croix Hospice. Kathryn was born on February 8, 1918, the daughter of Leo and Olive Winkler.

She married J. Spencer Kuster on August 27, 1940 in Tennyson.

Kathryn is survived by her daughter, Susan (Tom) Cardinal of Minneapolis, MN; sisters, Ruth Bergdoll and Mary Franklin both of Traverse City, MI; daughter-in-law, Joyce Kuster, Huntley, IL; grandchildren, Stacie (Teo) Leonard, Apollo Beach, FL, Chad Foehringer, Minneapolis, MN, Marty Kuster, Algonquin, IL, Brett (Leslie) and great-grandson, Dylan Kuster, all of Algonquin, IL; and many nieces & nephews.

In addition to her parents, Kathryn was preceded in death by her husband, Spencer in 1984; her son, Wayne in 2004; and her siblings, Donald, Harlan, Norbert, and Gerald Winkler, Bernadette Mason, & Geraldine Vaassen.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held at 10:30 am on Saturday, August 13, 2016, at St. Andrew Catholic Church in Tennyson, with Fr. Richard Leffler celebrating the mass. Burial was in the church cemetery. Friends called an hour prior to the service Saturday at the church. Martin Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Potosi is assisting the family.
